You have 5 computers in your classroom. These computers do not have Internet access. You also have a teacher computer with Internet access. You have a printer connected to the teacher computer. You have a web camera. You have no LCD projector or screen. All computers have Microsoft Office and Movie Maker. There is no computer lab in the school. All classrooms have the same equipment available.
The Solution:
-We could have the groups get library books on tornadoes. That way we could have one group at a time come up and do research on the teacher computer, with internet, while the other groups do research out of the books that they got. Rotate groups after a certain amount of time.
- When the research is done, we could have groups come up with powerpoints or just word documents that contain the knowledge and research on tornadoes that they've gathered. They could also begin to come up with ideas for their documentary.
- The groups could then record their documentaries on the web cam. While one group is recording, the others can work on their powerpoints and word documents.. they could create a book or something to go along with their documentary.
- When all the groups are done recording, either just the teacher could view the documentaries since there is no projector, they could take turns as groups viewing the other groups documentaries and the ones that weren't watching could check out each other's books, or we could all as a class sit around the one computer and watch the videos. If there's a way to add the videos to a powerpoint then they could put it on there and each group could view it at one of the computers.
